This year we focused entirely on a text that centers the idea of black that has so concerned the artists who make up [B.A.R.] and the institutions and spaces they circulate through, The Undercommons: Fugitive Planning & Black Study by Fred Moten and Stefano Harney. [B.A.R.] coordinated a series of artist-led workshops and interventions that focused on “The Undercommons” as a theory and practice of the black radical tradition that supports, inspires, and extends contemporary social and political thought and aesthetic critique.
